Programme
The Painting Programme is about making pictures - the process involving finding the ‘image’ and being inspired; how and where we find it; how to translate it and develop our ideas. The studio sessions will also include exercises, tutorials, one to one tuition and talks.
There will be tuition for oil painting, acrylics or watercolour with emphasis on understanding the nature of paint and the processes using drawing and painting in the visual language. Skills and approaches to drawing, composition and colour can be built on and extended.
Those who are new to working in the field of art will benefit from the sensitivity to their level of experience, and there will be flexibility/space for the more experienced artist. We join the non-painters on excursions: for sketching, ideas and inspiration. You need to bring your own materials.
"Art is a powerful means of infecting those around us with ideas, feelings and moods." Malevich

"Drawing makes you see.. I took out a sketchbook .. and I drew .. (things) become clearer and what seemed like disorder seems ordered. ..That's a personal experience that's vivid to me. I say that my pleasure then, at looking, is deep and I admit that." David Hockney.
