La Tuscia
Dates:
8th - 19th September 2009
Holiday Overview:
Little is known about the Etruscan civilisation, even though it lasted over 900 years before being totally absorbed in the expanding Roman Empire by about 100BCE. Sparse elements of their language has been deciphered, yet they left behind the most wonderful pictorial legacy: the familiar black and terracotta vases; awe-inspiring 'Caverna' or roadways carved through solid rock; extraordinary necropoli - both temple tombs carved in the cliff-face and underground chambers.
For 12 days we will be exploring, drawing and sketching in this culturally rich area. The variety of places we have chosen to stay, visit and work gives ample scope for artists to gather valuable resource material or for those either familiar with, or new to working in the landscape, a chance to try out new and interesting ways of responding to the surroundings.
Non-artists are welcomed: Find out more...
Full alternative programme, for non-painters, partners and friends; provides a good opportunity for additional exploration as well as visits to not-to-be-missed places of interest.
